From the Principal

Dear St Anne's Community,

Easter Blessings from Our Catholic School Family!

As we approach the joyous celebration of Easter, I am filled with gratitude for the wonderful community we have here at St Anne's Catholic College. Easter is a time of renewal, hope, and reflection, and it is a pleasure to witness these values echoed throughout our school. During this season, we are reminded of the importance of faith, family, and community. It is a time to come together and celebrate the blessings in our lives, including the gift of education and the opportunity to grow in both knowledge and spirit. As a Catholic school, we are guided by the teachings of Jesus Christ and the principles of love, compassion, and service to others. This Easter, let us remember the significance of these teachings and strive to live them out in our daily lives. I encourage each of you to take some time during this Easter break to reflect on the blessings in your life and to cherish the moments spent with loved ones. May this Easter be a time of joy, peace, and spiritual growth for you and your families.

Easter Hat Parade

Our K-6 Easter hat parade was a great event this morning and I thank our Primary SRC for their organisation. Thank you to all of the parents, grandparents and families that were able to join us for this parade.

Resignation

On Monday this week, and with mixed emotions, I announced my resignation from St Anne's and Catholic Education Canberra/Goulburn at the end of the 2024 school year. Please see the letter that was emailed on Monday. The Principal position is likely to be advertised in April and we hope to have an announcement by the end of Term 2, if all goes to plan.

Tracksuit pants

Please see an article further along in this newsletter about school tracksuit pants.

Staffing

Secondary-

Dr Vey has taken some leave and she will return for the start of Term 2.

We welcome Tracy Harper to our school next week. Tracy will be fulltime, covering Year 9 Homeroom, Yr 11 Standard English, Year 10 HSIE, Year 8 English, Year 7 HSIE, Year 9/10 Food. We look forward to having Tracy and the experience that she brings with her, on our staff.

I have advertised for a Science/Tech assistant. Two days per week. If you know of anyone, please encourage them to apply.

Primary-

The relieving Year 6 teacher position for when Mrs Overs is on Maternity Leave has been advertised and is at the interview stage. I will be able to announce this next week.

I am very grateful for the support that we have received from Mrs Nikki Taylor and Mrs Claire Maxwell. Both staff members have been assisting us while we finalise staffing arrangements. They are well known to both staff and students and have been teaching at St Anne's for many years.

Passion Play

Thank you to Mrs Collins and the Year 9/10/11 students for their delivery of the Passion Play today. It was a moving experience. Thank you to Mrs Breust for her amazing vocals.

Take care,

Grant Haigh
