Western Region Athletics Carnival
An incredible forty students qualified to trial for Western Region selection in Temora and a further eighteen students were successful in gaining Western Region selection. Western Region athletes are: Rylee Overs, Bailey McCormack, Elsie Keith, Belle Wilesmith, Grace and Ella McCrone, Duke Krause, Barney Taylor, Annabelle Gray, Zephanie Lancaster, Quinn Crawford, Sarah Smith and Stella Krause. The junior and senior girls relay teams won their relays convincingly, they were Juniors: Quinn Crawford, Ella McCrone Belle Wilesmith and Rylee overs. The senior girls were Grace McCrone, Elsie Keith, Zephanie Lanacaster and Annabelle Gray.
A number of records were broken at the Western Region carnival by St Anne’s students,they were: Zephanie Lancaster set new records in the 800m of 2 min 51 seconds and the 1500m 6 min 16 sec, Ella McCrone 1.26m high jump, Annabelle Gray 3.72m long jump, junior girls relay 1 min 07 sec and Stella Krause in 100m 22.13sec, 200m 56.88sec, long jump 2.05m, discus 5.91m and shot put 2.35m.
The carnival went ahead very well despite the little bit of rain and very cool conditions. A huge thanks to the students for great spirit and behaviour and thanks to the secondary students who worked tirelessly all day. Thanks to Lachlan Tait for working the finish line, Ali McCrone, and Noeline and the volunteers who helped out in a very busy canteen!
