Principal's Report

Dear St Anne's Community,

Welcome to the 2021 school year. I hope that you had an enjoyable Christmas and New Year and that you were able to spend some quality time with family and friends. It was nice to see the students smiling faces as they walked through the gates on Monday. I was very impressed with how settled the school was when we met in the church for an assembly. Thank you to the staff at St Anne's for making the first week back an organised and successful one.

A very warm welcome to all of our new families joining us this year. We are lucky to have 15 new families starting with us across K-10. Welcome to: Noah (Yr 2), Markus (Yr 7), Lilah (Yr 3), Kayla (Yr 7), Scarlett (Yr 7), Chelsea (Yr 7) and the 24 Kindergarten students. Best of luck to our 24 Year 7 students on the start of their secondary education. Welcome to our 2 new teachers, Mr Rob Turner (Secondary Maths/Science) and Miss Jennifer Cutcliffe (Year 2). We are lucky to have them join us at St Anne's. We are still searching for a Wood/Metal teacher. I requested that this be made a fulltime position to attract more candidates and this was approved.

Last week, staff participated in 3 days of Professional Learning. There is a new system wide initiative called "Catalyst" being introduced and we spent a full day learning about this. On the other 2 days we covered topics such as First Aid, Religious Education, Scriptural Theme for the year, Behaviour Management, Student Data Analysis and our Strategic and Operational Plans. A reminder that students will start Term 2 on Monday 19th April, not the Tuesday.

Our Annual St Anne's Long Lunch is taking place on the 27th March. You don't need to be on a table of 10 to attend the event. Please see the flyer attached to this newsletter for more information. This is a really good social gathering and fundraiser.

I pray that 2021 is a safe, healthy and prosperous year for all of you.

See you at the Welcome BBQ and Open classrooms on Wednesday 10th February.

Take care,

Grant Haigh
