Principal's Welcome
Welcome to the 2023 school year at St Anne’s Central School!
I would like to thank parents for entrusting their child’s education with us. The staff at St Anne’s are committed to providing a quality education in an engaging and safe environment. They work hard to know their students and to provide learning experiences which best meet the individual student’s needs. We are blessed to be able to offer a broad range of subjects. The use of IT is seen as a tool to enhance learning. Google Classroom is a key aspect of student learning and communication. Please ask your son/daughter to show you their work in Google Classroom periodically so you can keep up to date with their learning.
The theme which will guide our journey in 2023 is asking our community to be “Resilient”. I look forward to exploring this further with students and staff over the course of the year. Our school improvement agenda for the next two years includes three goals; Improve student achievement in English through the implementation of evidence based practices, Improve student achievement in Mathematics through the implementation of evidence based practices and Strengthen the Catholic Identity and the teaching of Religious Education at St Anne's. Students are encouraged to be learners who will help make a better world as they live as adults in the 21st Century. Possessing a growth mindset will also assist students to overcome problems and identify solutions. This means that achievement is about hard work and that anyone can improve if they are determined to work at it.
I would encourage students to actively seek feedback from their teachers on how they can improve their work. Students should not be discouraged by their mistakes but rather to see them as opportunities for growth. St Anne’s has a proud history inspired by the Josephite tradition and we believe in positive partnerships with families and the community. We welcome you at school events and value the relationships we build. Staff and I encourage students to take pride in their uniform, appearance and school work.
There is much to look forward to this year at St Anne’s, both inside and outside of school. We are very excited about the first Year 11 cohort that will begin with us this year and the opportunities that this will bring to our community. I pray that our community has a safe and rewarding year.
God Bless,
Mr Grant Haigh
